What Makes Mastiff Training Unique

Much like humans, Mastiffs need exercise too. If their stored energy isn’t spent, then it would be the probable reason why they get anxious and become obese. Once their energy isn’t spent on necessities like exercise then they will have more than enough energy to do stupid things like unnecessary barking and unwanted jumping.
The Basics of Mastiff Training
To start Mastiff training, it would be crucial if the dog is still a puppy or an adult. Effective dog training always work with puppies although adult Mastiffs are still trainable but it may take some more time and lots more patience compared to dealing with puppies. The ideal age to start Mastiff training is when a puppy is at least 8 months old.
During this time, it is important that the Mastiff is socialized with other dogs as well as people and its environment. This practice must be done consistently while he is aging. The socialization factor will prohibit his animal instincts of aggression and anxiety among fellow species and to people and things that are foreign to him.
Mastiff Training for Obedience
If you prefer a more complex Mastiff training like dog obedience training then it should be started when the puppy is around 10-14 weeks old. Just right after it has completed the basic aspects of dog training most especially housetraining. Violence must always be discouraged during the course of training. Since it would be normal for them not to follow your orders right away then you must be patient enough and formulate other form of negative reinforcement aside from violence.
Since Mastiffs are naturally relaxed and calm dogs then it would be impossible to teach them lots of dog tricks. Settle with simple obedience training tricks like sitting down, staying still and keeping quiet noted by their respective voice commands.
Mastiffs do not really have to be excellent guard dogs or intelligent show dogs. As long as they get to learn basic Mastiff training then they will be more than fitting to serve as your pet. In fact, they are really gentle and cool dogs paired with huge physique.
